Proposal: Distribution of Treasury Among Society Members
Context:
The Society treasury currently holds approximately 8,000 KSM, which was initially allocated to fund new bids and candidates. However, due to the recent automatic burn redirect introduced by Gav, the intended use for these funds is no longer necessary. Therefore, the Society now has the opportunity to decide how to allocate or redistribute the remaining funds.

Proposal:
We propose to distribute the remaining 8,000 KSM among all 169 Society members in a fair and equitable manner. Each member will receive an equal share of the treasury funds unless an alternative allocation method is preferred by the majority of members.

Distribution Breakdown:
Total Treasury Amount: 8,000 KSM
Total Members: 169
KSM per Member: ~47.34 KSM
Each society member will receive approximately 47.34 KSM, assuming equal distribution. This can be adjusted if the society agrees to apply different distribution criteria based on member contributions, activity, or other factors.

**Project Overview:** A 130x195cm portrait of Gavin Wood will be commissioned, created by an artist known for making portraits of Valentino Rossi, work with FC Barcelona.
**NFT Component:** An NFT of the portrait will be distributed to all Kappa Sigma Mu members.
**Logistics:** Will send the portrait to Gavin's office
**Total cost:** 506 KSM ($9200 equivalent)
**Community Impact:** This project merges art with blockchain technology, engaging members and attracting new participants. Gavin will post it on X. The artist will post it on his instagram.

The treasury is designed to incentivise the responsible use of accrued funds. Each spend period, unused KSM is supposed to be burned unless directed toward spending proposals. Currently, 0.2% of these unspent funds are automatically diverted to the Kappa Sigma Mu Society (See the pot [here](https://kusama.subscan.io/account/F3opxRbN5ZbbNGg1tFTKna9ymddEen74rNVr5JRPb3nRsXX)), an allocation hardcoded into the runtime, and beyond direct community control, hence largely locked and unused.

[At the inception of Kappa Sigma Mu](https://ksmsociety.io/wiki), this mechanism was intended to support an innovative, experimental approach to economic games. However, over time, the funds allocated to the Society have remained largely unused and inaccessible, with no measurable benefit justifying continued support.

The Society has accumulated more than enough funds (currently more than $3M) to cover any operational costs, yet continues to receive automatic funding without fulfilling its original goals. Hence, this proposal seeks to signal the member's desire to stop this perpetual funding to Kappa Sigma Mu, acknowledging that the current structure no longer serves its purpose. As long as Society cannot effectively utilise these funds, there is no need to perpetuate the 0.2% allocation, especially when those funds could be better utilised by the treasury or burned (something that requires a separate discussion involving broader token holders).

While non-binding, if approved, it will send a signal to proceed with creating an RFC to remove the 0.2% allocation and direct those funds to the burn or keep it on a treasury address.

Stop Treasury Funding to the Kappa Sigma Mu Society

Seek to register Kappa Sigma Mu as a DAO within the Invarch portal/Astar. By doing so, Kappa Sigma Mu will gain an additional platform and window for its operations.

Furthermore, registering as a DAO would enable the Society to receive rewards in VARCH/ASTAR, which could be distributed on a biannual basis (can we automate this with ava protocol?) This move aims to provide new opportunities for the Society and enhance its engagement with the dot ecosystem.
